Unfinished Solid Hardwood

Kenosha Customs preferred method of product and installation. In this traditional technique, we work with our clients to choose a species of wood based upon there desired size, character and color. With a beautiful natural look, no two pieces will look alike, displaying complex definitive grains. Once the materials are chosen the Kenosha craftsman use a process of nailing and gluing down to the existing subfloor. After the raw material is installed a dust contaminated sand and finish process is performed on site, producing the most detail oriented final product. One of the main benefits to solid wood flooring is that its typically 3/4″ thick. This allows the floor to be completely re surfaced 3-5 times. This means a brand new floor multiple times within the life of your home, assuring more reliability in your investment.

PRE-FINSIHED ENGINEERED HARDWOOD

There are many benefits to choosing a pre finished engineered wood floor. Engineered wood flooring is constructed in a fashion which provides better stability and resistance to variations in temperature and moisture. Engineered flooring looks like solid wood flooring as the top layer is a solid wood layer, however it then has a plywood base construction underneath. The top layer of hardwood runs perpendicular to the plywood base, which creates the strength and stability of the flooring by allowing it to react to changes in temperature and humidity. This allows it to be used with radiant heating systems and in rooms that significantly change in temperature, such as conservatories and utility rooms. The method of installation for this type of flooring is also an advantage, due to the fact that it can be nailed down, glued down, or attached with a floating system where the pieces are clicked together similar to legos.
